Wave Your Hand and Recharge Your Mobile

No, no I am not hallucinating. It is true. Scientists are hopeful that in near future our body movements or blood movement inside our body will be enough to recharge our mobiles or i-Pods! Researchers are banking on nanogenerators that will do the unthinkable. You can see details here: A light breeze, a beating heart could power mobile gadgets: research or here: The next not-so-big thing: Nanogenerators

  1. Sounds interesting, though idea not very new it would save energy a lot.

I remember my dad gifted a citizen watch to my elder bro around ’84 on passing out his tenth grade. That watch used to run on hand/body movenment.

Hey aprat from that information, thanks for helping me remember those days :). I kept annoyed for many days for such watch for me too. Hahaha

  2. Very Interesting. But people today are becoming so busy and otherwise so lazy that even those voluntary movements will be available to be outsourced commercially.

Thankfully, we still have not mastered to control the involuntary movements in our body.

  3. Hi,Alka…oh,wow-thats nice..that should save a bit of valuable electricity round the world, with people not needing to charge mobiles the traditional way.

  4. Really Alkadi, you come up with such great news now and then that it makes me wonder. And how are you? You have stopped communicating with me for long. I am a little bit surprised.

  5. I am far less hopeful and fascinated about technology’s ability to make things significantly better for us than I was 25 years ago, Alka! It always seems to create new problems (more unemployment, more people who can’t spell right, more old people who are sad and ill all the time) even as it solves some old ones, and it seems to be far less able to solve real and big problems (hunger, tyranny, predicting tsunamis, saving the rainforests) than the little and unimportant ones (such as recharging mobiles, and improving skin tones for the idle rich)!

  6. Praney, its nice to know that you were thinking about good old days. Hope to read more about those days on your blog. 🙂

Destination Infinity you have a point.

Manoj, thank you for the comment. I have to read your blog soon.

Hari, I found your comment on control of involuntary muscles very funny and equally scary! 🙂

Amit, you have got the point. that’s their central point to develop such a device.

  7. Xanindia, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Subhanjan, I am fine. How are you? I have seen your blogs and left comments too but my daughter peeps in and starts doing her own thing on the computer! After a while I lose patience and leave her alone with my system. This cycle goes on endlessly. Now a days she has become a bit wiser. instead of grabbing the system she grabs my hand!!! 🙂

Suvro, I disagree with you. Here the idea was to save energy use less fossil fuel that will lead to saving environment. The team of researchers wants us to be self sufficient energywise and spend less on coal generated fuels. Sadly here in India, only Narendra Modi have started something in Gujrat and sanctioned substantial amount of money for alternative sources of energy. Selective Secular media didn’t give any importance to the news but Narendra Modi’s this step was featured prominently in foreign media.
Not knowing correct spelling is not generated by computers but by our parents and our own attitude. Why keep spellchek on? Turn it off. Knowledge is just a tool. Its our attitude that how we use it.
