Serial bomb blasts were happening in Delhi. People were looking for their near and dear ones. Mobiles were jammed and it was difficult talking to anyone. Doctors of Lady Harding Medical College were making appeal to general public to come forward and donate blood for Delhi bomb victims. Common people were trying to help in their own way.
But danger was still lurking somewhere. After serial bomb blasts Delhi was still unsafe. An e-mail claimed that they planned nine serial blasts for Delhi. So bomb squad were still searching for live bombs.
Here the million dollar question is, “what the Honorable Home Minister Of India Mr. Shivraj Patil was doing? Oh! He was busy playing the role of a ramp model. Today starnews showed that he was changing clothes for different occasion. First starnews claimed that he changed clothes three times in three hours while serial blasts were taking place in Delhi! But when they were showing the program they received a call from Home Ministry that the honorable minister has not changed three times in three hours but three times in five hours. We as public should really be relieved after this clarification or damage control. They should have informed the newsroom that MAJOR TV CREWS FROM INTERNATIONAL MEDIA will be covering this Delhi blasts and how come he turn out shabbily dressed and in the same suit? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE REPUTATION OF INDIA IN FRONT OF WHOLE WORLD? So he has to behave as a ramp model first and as a Home Minister later.

  1. Hi,Alka…that’s indeed what our hon’ble ministers do at such times. And,what about the media?Do read the post I read, immediately after seeing the news on TV. I was thoroughly disgusted at the way even a disaster gets commercialized.

  2. Its the media which is trivializing the issue by focusing on the person’s change of attire. In the whole picture what consequence is it of? Does changing clothes or not changing clothes an indicator a person’s efficiency? If he would have had a sip of coffee, they could have made an issue of him having coffee when he needed to demonstrate leadership qualities. The media knows the Indian mindset of missing the woods for the trees and encashes it ceaselessly.

  3. Amit, I have read your post. You have to watch India TV. They walk away with the cake when such things happen.

Tanmoy, kudiyan to sabhi ki (mera matlab hai male species) weakness hoti hai. To ye Lt.-General kaise exception ho sakata hai? But taking someone forcibly is below dignity. I wish he get punished severely.

Prudent Indian, of course you know who is more dangerous. I wish this time Mr. Patil is just plain lucky because elections are near and ruling party might not want to remove him because that means they are giving opposition something to talk about and admitting failure that an incompetent person was heading such a sensitive department.

Paradox, Its interesting to have a different perspective.

    *it is the time,isnt it?

  5. I don’t know how anyone can not find fault with the Home Minister for changing clothes three times in three hours even as he was getting report after report of serial blasts that were taking lives minutes away from him. As he admitted the other day, he is in that chair only because of the “blessings of the leader”.

  6. Alka- I sometimes have the feeling that the media is running short of news and has to resort to cheap tactics to garb the attention of the viewers. I have of late noticed the degradation of reporting.

Media has freedom of expression but sometimes they do not know where to stop. More often than not they are seen poking microphones in to the faces of victims of relatives and asking provoking questions. What do they exactly want to achieve?

I believe that media has a huge and important role to play in the society and need to maintain decorum.

And we as viewers need to be able to distinguish beetween news and bull.
