Books!

My jaw simply dropped to my knees when I first “listened to this FrankFinn ad. In this ad a girl was claiming that she was “different right from childhood. Well and good. No problem with that. She also announced she wanted to fly. Excellent! But then somewhere she said when my friends were burning the midnight oil and spending time with heavy fat books, her dreams were taking shape in her eyes.

Well, Ms “whatever or whoever you are, for your kind information you will be able to fly because somebody has chosen to spend enough time with thick books. That person will be known as pilot to you. You will be able to land in the pre announced city because someone has spent enough time with ugly fat books. That someone will be the navigator. You will be able to land safely because again someone has chosen to spend enough time with those despicable books. That someone will be the ground staff. If these people will not spend enough time with loathsome books, your dream would remain a dream (achievable in sleep only). Forever!

Here I was talking about your dream only. If we extend it a bit more, we are well connected and call this earth a global village because again someone had turned to fatty books. Otherwise I have not seen your ad. We are healthy and many incurable diseases are curable, because someone was not just chilling out and hanging out with friends but spending time with books. Our parents stay with us these days for more years than usual. Again those damn books are responsible. I don’t know why we act like ungrateful lots. Or maybe I am a bit more touchy because I had suffered from a disease that a few decades ago was incurable but someone was studying hard and working his a** off to find a cure for that disease. I am glad he was not a great fan of disc and pubs. Millions like me owe their lives to him and those fat books.

  1. how true…if it were not for those dedicated people we would not have been able to do all that we do today…so sad that some ppl do not spare a thought for the pains they went thru…

tho it was an outburst…nevertheless justified in a way…

  2. These institutes r like tht, the one for which they r coaching is the best profession in d world n all others r not worthy.

The ad was obviously aimed at good-at-presentation-not-so-good-at-studies people.

  3. Hi,Alka…arre,it’s just an ad,finally,an ad which is supposed to give such a rosy picture that everyone wants to run and join them and part with their hard-earned money for the sake of becoming an airhostess.Correct?:)If the gal in the ad ever gives an interview,I bet she’ll admit that she spent hours burning the midnight oil,too.:)TC.

  4. And,a big smile on my face after reading your reply to my comment in the last post..:)Thanks for a good idea….maybe I can just write a management bestseller book, too, once I decide to retire from active work duty..hehe.

  5. Hi dear,
Agree with Maverick…This profession is more about Looks and beauty and less about Studies..They dont need studious but glamor..
I had an experience and had written that too in one of my post..

But, one thing is for sure..You have dig an very different idea from an idea..

A simple ad is much controversial..never imagined..

    Take care

  6. White Magpie, 🙂 Mai kahan kuch kar rahi hun?

Prancer, that’s what I was trying to say. We enjoy the fruits of their labor. And then deride their efforts.

Maverick, I can safely extend your thinking to all the spheres of life. We are becoming good at presentation. 🙂

AmitL, burnt midnight oil for …what? Anyway that too is necessary. But it is highly unlikely that one should deride other’s devotion and passion. When are you writing the bestseller. I will be one of the first to buy the copy. 🙂

  7. Shruti, you are 200% right. But for furthering their own interest, they shouldn’t deride others. 🙂 I would like to read your post.

  8. Well said Alka!
I liked the video too u posted in Raghu Pati…post. i sahre the concern with you all about the pratibha.i said earlier and m saying again she is not my president.Any way since i blog and shall be,hopefully, blogging and inevitably will refer to her as well,so I will refer to her as RashtraPatiL.
I think this will make good and save me from calling her ,what I do not believe in.
    Regards,
    PI.

BTW,sorry for the delay as had been traveling of late, but you are now on my Must Read list.Thanks.

  9. Prudent Indian, welcome. I often read your fiery posts. I too was very depressed these days when I heard or saw Ms Patil. But see, if we can ouster this government in next elections.
