Sonia Furious As Congress Makes Mockery of Dalit Agenda

On 2nd Occtober, Congressmen were celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday by spending nights at the house of a Dalit villagers in their constituencies. What these congressmen did? Read for yourself.

Sriprakash Jaiswal, Kanpur MP and a minister of state, had fans running on generators as he slept on a hired foam mattress.

Kamal Kishore, Lok Sabha member from Bahraich, gorged on chicken.

Moradabad MP Mohammad Azharuddin ate in solitary splendour from a disposable plate.

“Villagers complained that one celebrity Congress MP, former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin, snubbed his hosts by rejecting their food and refused to shake hands with the Dalit village elder.

Witnesses said when the elder of Khadar village approached him to offer him a poori – a deep-fried chapati – the celebrated former batsman refused to allow him near while his supporters jostled him away.”

Faizabad MP Nirmal Khatri’s food was prepared by a hired cook.

Only a few — such as Jiten Prasada, MP from Dhaurahra — emulated Rahul by eating what they were offered and sleeping on a cot.

  2. caste is ingrained in our very psyche. these ministers only want our votes and see us as a stepping stone to their goals, not as fellow human beings who were labelled as lower caste by, guess who? – the high caste. not coming into close contact with people who clean toilets and the street may be due to hygiene concerns – but not accepting food from people on the basis of their caste? shameful. and azharuddin – this was a big surprise. isn’t his religion based on non-casteism – aren’t they the most egalitarian of all faiths? like christians. discrimination is only a hindu prerogative, please. let us not blur the lines!!

  7. No doubt there (were) are genuine social worker among politicians and they work behind the scene and away from media glare. But phoney politicians like you wrote about are only for publicity and they do get that thankfully to our media who if ignore them wont get (positive or negtive) publicity at all.

    At Amitl and many Indians like him: As far as Rahul Gandhi is concerned, just like a management skilled MNC launching a new product, is being “Planfully ‘Launched’ ” in indian politics for PMship. By sleeping/visiting/eating at poors/dalits only now and then he has over shadowed all those genuine politicians/social workers who were visiting/living in/with dalits for years. Only becuase he is a ‘prince’ he is being praised and appriciated even if he coughs. Though his moves (if sincere) are welcome but the way he receives sycophancy is disgusting as if India have left with no other able leader. Have anyone ever wonder why there is not a single negtive reporting against him or his pujya mataji or his param pujya bahan ji ever till today by our ‘able n competent’ media?? Answer burries somewhere deep down under the huge mountain of budget spent by congress on media.

  9. I suppose the idea of staying with a poor family is currently exploited to gain political Milage, further more classifying the poor as Dalit etc is not helping much, Poor is Poor, how is Dalit Poor different from “High caste” Poor.
    Further if Rahul Gandhi stays at a Poor Villagers house, or Azaruddin eats from a disposable plate, or some other Jack ass sleeps on a Foam Mattress it shouldnt matter, the Media should highlight the plight of these people and not how some politician used generators and ran fans with that.
    As SanJay Dutt Baba said in Khusoorat, ” Main tumhe Chand Dikha Raha HUn, aur tum mere ungli mein galti nikal rahe ho”

  10. vivsters we all know about the plight of poors and media keeps on highlighting it from time to time. Here it was politicians who need to know the conditions of poor. 🙂 By the way who is chand here? poors or politicians?

  11. 🙂 well Chand here was used as a metaphor, may be a wrong one, i do agree with the point that plight of poor is higlighted in the Media. My Point was that we sometimes tend to get too busy or caught up in the bashing up politcians that we loose the focus on the main issues.
    I hope that the people in the constituencies of these “leaders” remember this when the time comes next to choose.
