alka ji,
what this got to do with going to a disc, I do go to one, bar hop as well – and duly introspected on the changing times when the eminment Dr Kurien quit. I wondered why, I wondered about the politics, I wondered if it was time for him to go or if he was being thrown out. I don’t know, I read all the stories I could, didn’t get too much data to form an opinion.
So I watched Paris Hilton on the FTV and sipped some beer in condolance to Dr Kurien, at least he will enjoy his tipple in peace
I really envy this guy. From his comment it seems he moves in elitist of elites. What I seem to get is following:
1. “What do you say? Where is Korea? Is it in Japan or Tokyo?” This person almost knows
every disc and eating joint in the capital and neighbouring towns.
2. “What is dowry Mam?” A student of class 7th from a good public school asks. She knows
about most of the malls and McDonald’s latest offers.
3. “What is irrigation?” Another student from class 8th asks. Don’t ask about her other
secular activities’ knowledge.
4. “What is a Mexican Ambassador? Ye kya hota hai?” I was strongly tempted to reply that
ye eak naya Bada Pav ka naam hai. But took pain to reply. This person is from IIT-K, and
NO!!! she is not my sister. 🙂
5. Another icing on the cake question, “What is bail? This question is from another person
from IIT-K. And they say, “India ke top brains vahan jate hai.
6. I have read Manish Chauhan’s one of the posts, where his collegue asked, “Is there a
snowfall in Lucknow?
So Ashish Ji (I hope you are not the same Ashish V. Singh, I seem to know :-)), I have every right to write whatever I had written in Dr. Kurien’s post. 🙂 I often meet DISGUISED BEHENJIS, who look perfect from head to toe but you can’t hold a noraml, non personalized conversation with them for ten minutes.
You move in the chosen company but we lesser mortals are not as lucky as you are. 🙂 I am again requesting you, if you have a blog, please leave a link.
HI Alka,
This is a typical product of Pseudo-westernised future of India. These guys would not like to identify themselves with their home and would be least cared for in the US of A. “Na Ghar ka, Na ghat ka, products”.
Today I read in web that kissing in public will attract a fine of Rs.500/- in Delhi. I am sure there will be a section of youth protesting against this or atleast seeking a concessional fine as if there is not sufficient place in their homes.

I wouldn’t mind joining the protesters just for the heck of it (although I’m not going to). I think people should be allowed to kiss openly — yes, even smooch — because there is no harm in it. We have so much hatred in our society that such gestures of affection — even if they seem lascivious to our sexually frustrated population — are any day better than the general goondagardi we see and convenient tolerate on our roads. I know some would say, “Then where do we draw the line?” My answer would be, “Why do you want to draw the line?” I mean, let people draw their own lines. I’m sure people won’t take their clothes off at Janpath and start doing their stuff.
Regressive moves like fining people for kissing openly are no solution to the larger problem. Fine people for littering, strictly. Fine people for rudeness, strictly. Fine people for breaking road rules, strictly. Fine people for eve teasing, strictly. And fine them according to their economic condition. Punishing smoochers is simply stupid. It’s like barking up the wrong tree.
I agree with Amrit. I hold hands with my nephews, my dad, my sis, so why can’t I hold hands with my husband? I do not kiss anyone of them on the road or in Public but that is a personal choice!
alka, i did not understan why he commented like this (there was no mention of dis/pubs in ur post). but then i also did not understand your response to him 🙁
sorry there was mention of pub and djs/vjs in ur post. so i can see from where his cynic response originate. but ur response to him ?
😛
IIT-K walon ki itni tang khinchayi kyun 😛
But really you are right, people especially those who cant choose what they want to know, face a great trouble picking things out of the bombardments of information.
alka,

Someone is sick in my family. I will read posts of my fellow bloggers as soon as this person revert back to normal health.
what is the link
Hi Alka,
This is to wish your family member a speedy recovery to the best of his / her health. Take care of that person. We can wait.
Hi,Alka…I couldn’t help grinning at the highly erudite comments from supposedly erudite people, particularly the ‘Korea in Japan or Tokyo’ one..I wonder why people insist on being so pseudo-intellectual most of the time?(Perhaps that’s why I avoid going to parties of the chat-away type.)..Hope u don’t meet too many ‘personalized behenjis'(WHAT A TERM..I luv that) in future…BTW,why’ve u stopped visiting this ‘lesser mortal’s’ blog these days?:)
Frustrating isnt it? People know more about Tom Cruise’s baby and Tendulkar’s visit to a temple than issues that really matter:). I also read ‘The nation owes an apology to this man’. You are right!
Alka,
Was just playing the devil’s advocate, and no I don’t know the elite crowd – although I have to admit, I say that with a certain regret 😉
BTW: I am indeed guilty of being that certain Ashish V Singh.
Cheers
OK – I just read all the bricks being thrown at me. Maybe I should have put in smileys to show in the original post that I was joking – and yes I do know Alka so thought nothing of pulling her leg, and I am a mere worker in the grind of the software services industry. The only elitist thing that I do is to have a beer with middleaged software services kinda people.
So there goes my facade 😉
Cheers
In resonse to Alka’s request here is the link to my blog. I am a newbie, so any feedback is greatly welcome.
